Sentimos. Pensamos. Hacemos.

In this series of 8 chapters, we are sharing the main keys to our own evolution in recent years. In the first chapter we recounted our moment of exploration, of inspiration, of looking up; in this second chapter we are going to talk about open knowledge, systematisation and transparency.

Transparency is one of the fundamental aspects of the New Style of Relationships (NER) model. The willingness to share information, which helps get people involved in projects, can also be turned outwards as open knowledge: The K2K Books have been downloaded by 90,000 users, helping many organisations with information, past experiences and tips to guide them in their implementation of NER.

NER includes ideas, values and criteria already applied by many different organisations. They do not belong to K2K Emocionando; we just have our own way of implementing them, known as “NER by K2K” – the result of all the experience and knowledge we gained in the past two decades, working with a wide range of organisations in their transformation processes.

In line with our willingness to share the tools and techniques that should be mastered to manage organisations, we wanted to go one step further, so we put all this knowledge and experience together and offered them in the NER by K2K Advanced Seminar, whose first edition took place in Bilbao in November 2018. In 2019, we brought the seminar to Barcelona, and one year later, in 2020, we came to Madrid. Then, everything came to a halt due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, the pandemic did not prevent us from doing things. Social distancing provided the right context for the development of digital approaches, in an effort to adapt to the new situation. The seminar’s programme and method were redesigned in order to reach people wherever they were. Technology gave us access to new places and new organisations, enabling us to share our experiences in Spain and beyond, in North America and Latin America. In 2021, we began to offer our training programme in English too, thus reaching new countries, mostly in Europe.

Since 2018, more than 300 professionals around the world – in Argentina, Austria, Belgium Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, the United States and Uruguay – have turned to K2K Emocionando for adequate, real-life guidance in advanced management. We have shared with them the real-life experiences of the individuals and organisations that have taken on the NER model and we would like to thank those individuals and organisations for their generosity and enthusiasm. They have certainly inspired a great many people in their transformation around the globe.

In addition to the seminars, we have conducted workshops in the Basque Country and beyond – an activity that was new to us. We came to Catalonia and even to Lisbon, where we conducted workshops in English. Also, we have taken part in more than 60 conferences and congresses, master’s programmes, talks and seminars.

Our variety of experiences in different countries bore unexpected fruit too. We promoted the Spanish edition of Brian Carney and Isaac Getz’s Freedom, Inc., including a preface by Pablo Aretxabala of the K2K Emocionando team. Also, we were asked to write a preface for Corporate Rebels: Make Work More Fun. Finally, our management model got the attention of the media: since 2018, we got more than 70 mentions in the press, radio and television, in the form of interviews, features, op-eds and references to K2K Emocionando.
